GeorgiaCAN is excited share two potential charters hoping to open in 2023. Below you will find information on the propose models and where they plan to locate.

Sankofa Montessori
Sankofa Montessori is a proposed K-6 tuition-free Public Montessori charter school that will serve children in the Atlanta Metro area. Through a culturally responsive, child and family-centered Montessori education, Sankofa Montessori prepares all children to develop the knowledge, skills, and character to lead purposeful lives. When approved, Sankofa Montessori will be the only tuition-free Montessori Elementary charter school in the Atlanta Metro area. Sankofa Montessori plans to open its doors in the fall of 2023 and will serve Kindergarten and 1st-grade students in its first year. The school will add an additional grade each following year. The school plans to locate in the southern part of Atlanta in order to serve families in a broader geographic area.

The Anchor School
The Anchor School is a proposed 6th-12th grade academy focused on supporting families and students through adolescence and the transition to adulthood. Our social and emotional development curriculum; wraparound services; and small advising, teaching, and counseling ratios nurture the whole child. Our professional development for teachers, commitment to rigorous academics for students, and project-based learning courses ensure every graduate is ready to thrive in the college or career of their choice. Our strategic partnerships with families, industry professionals, local colleges, and mental health professionals ensure we create a village of partners who develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence our students need to thrive in our school and beyond. The Anchor School plans to open in Metro Atlanta in Fall of 2023.
