As 2019 comes to a close, the Atlanta Board of Education is debating a new five-year strategic plan and searching for a new superintendent. The Board’s decisions will help determine how much Atlanta Public Schools can resolve persistent and widespread inequities.
In this report, GeorgiaCAN and one of its partners, the Latino Association for Parents of Public Schools, analyzes the longstanding race-based achievement gaps and, based on extensive parent outreach, call for the Board to take decisive action to empower families and improve long-struggling schools.
