Requirements

Open to new school leaders, parents, and community members within the school’s attendance zone (Metro Atlanta School). Must be available for the entire five-week training program. We’re looking for active participation, so be ready to dive in!

Training Outline

Week 1: Charter Schools Unveiled (01/16/2024)

Get to know Charter Schools. Explore the fundamentals and history of charter schools. Discover the power of local voices. Understand charter school finances and accountability.

Week 2: Crafting and Advocating for Excellence (01/23/2024)

Learn about the Creation and Approval Process. Find out how to harness community power. Get inspired by stories and learn the art of crafting a vision.

Week 3: Bridging Communities and Families (01/30/2024)

Dive into recruitment and engagement strategies. Understand the importance of building school culture. Explore how to cultivate relationships. Practice effective recruitment strategies. Try your hand at the power of the pitch and advocacy role-play.

Week 4: Policy Advocacy and Long-Term Impact (02/06/2023)

Understand the impact of charter school advocacy and policy. Explore the importance of balancing the scales. Discover how to advocate for change. Learn about the legal landscape and parent advocacy. Gain insights from policy experts.

Week 5: Immersive Experience and Celebration (02/14/2024)

Experience a day immersed in Charter Schools. Explore a school and build connections within the community. Celebrate your journey and receive your well-deserved certificates.

Mandatory: Attendance is mandatory for new school leaders and staff for week 2 and week 3.
