Parent Fellowship
Chavonne Johnson
Lowndes County Parent Fellow

Chavonne Johnson’s career in education began early when she earned an early childhood certification while in high school and later worked in early education/early intervention for several years. Although she left the field for a period of time, she returned as an elementary teacher and eventually became the founder of a tutoring center.

Originally from the DC area, she moved to Georgia three years ago, where she began her current role as a State Transition Counselor. In this position, she works with high school students with disabilities across six counties in south Georgia as they plan their transition after graduation, including pathways to college and careers. She believes access to quality education should not be limited by proximity to the state capital, and she aims to ensure lawmakers hear the voices of South Georgia when policy decisions are made.

Outside of work, Chavonne loves traveling with her husband of 16 years and their two middle school sons.
